If anyone is using one of these, how are you hooking up the wiring?
The 3 options are "high impedance microphone", "120/200 ohn
microphone" and "30/50 ohm microphone".
i want to use this with ribbon mics, specifically a Royer R121 and
Beyer M500. Any suggestions?
Anybody that uses this Altec, what do you use it on?

"30/50 ohm" or "120/200" ohm. Pick the one you like best.

I think I have mine set up for 120/200. I've tried them with ribbon
microphones and, unless you have a very loud source, I wouldn't recommend it;
not enough gain. Many people say that 60 dB is adequate gain for ribbon mics,
but that really depends. I've used the 1566a for many things and typically
will use Gefell microphones with them (UM70, UMT800), not that other mics
wouldn't work as well. They are not my favorite pre's but I seem to use them
on every session. No problem.
