HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GT30F

I'm having a hard time getting my DVD Rom to work on windows 8. I have tried everything from deleting the driver to going to Toshiba for system drivers I am stumped anyone have any ideas that would be great.

HL-DT-ST is a LG number, you can't install Toshiba drivers (anyway, i've never seen any DVD-rom that needs a special driver, it should work as soon as it's plugged-in correctly (sata power and data, there's nothing else...)
