Yesterday I dropped my Visor Platinum and totally cracked the screen :-(
However I have a Visor Deluxe that stopped working some time ago, but I
suspect still has a working screen.
Does anyone know if I can swap-in a Visor Deluxe screen into a Visor
Platinum ?

Should be no problem. The connector and everything should be the same.

The Platinum and Deluxe screen are the same.
By the way, I dropped my Visor Deluxe twice (once when I was riding my
bike and it fell out of my pocket....hit pure concrete ground, and
tumbled for a couple of seconds....I was riding really fast) and the
screen never broke. Just a couple of scratches on the plastic shell of
the Visor. I always thought that my Visor's screen cover protected it
from screen cracks.
Just curious, but when your screen cracked, did it have the included
Visor cover?

No, it was in my original free all leather slip-in case that I got with my
original Visor Deluxe ... I knew the case was getting loose (elastic sides
showing their age), and I was dumbly holding the case upside down !! So the
Platinum had no protection when it landed on it's corner. The break is at
the back of the screen ... not the front surface.

shoot me your address, and I'll mail you a new handspring slipcase (I've got
a couple). Wouldn't want you to go through all that trouble, and then have
it fall again Al

Am I the only one who thinks that the leather/elastic slipcase that
came with the Visor was the most perfect simple case ever?

I don't know. I was always leary of it. In fact, I have one that I
have never used regularly because it is so tight that even with the
padding, I felt it might press too hard on the screen. I do use it
once in awhile, but only with the snap cover on. My "perfect" case
however has been the E&B Slipper Visor Case which I have used for
years:

Actually, my only problem with the included Visor leather case was
that they didn't include holes for the screen and the buttons, so you
can keep your Visor in it permanently. You know, like a cell phone
leather case which still lets you use the device even with the case
on.
A little off-topic since you guys know about Visors: I sometimes wish
that Handspring wasn't bought by PalmOne, and that it could have
created a newer color Visor which could have competed against Tungsten
E. Handspring would have a better lower price/high value deal than
PalmOne like what the Visor vs Palm III was like back in the days.
This is the problem with companies buying each other. It decreases
price competition, lowers amount of features you get for the money you
pay, etc.
