The main designer guy is ex-Shiny AFAIK. Similarity to the (original) MDK
can only be a good thing.

Cool. So my observation has some backup.

Sacrifice was awesome.

Most people don't want some loony speaking for them so I'd have to say
you're probably wrong. As usual.

It's sort of kinda got a look and feel like those games, but it's pretty
unique, I haven't seen anything quite like it. Some of the Lucas Arts
adventures might also look somewhat similar.

Knight how much stinking jumping is in the game if any. The game really
intrigued me and the fact you liked it made me more interested even though I
now find out you are a dirty rotten whore shill for the industry lunching
with EA and Blizzard on a daily basis plotting the take over of gamers
brains(oops that might be an unfair assumption, the brains I mean). Could
you get me free copies of all the new games that come out. Have them sent
by personal messenger, it's so much nicer that way!

It's half jumping, half assorted attacks. All button mashing. But it's a
platformer ... what else would you do in this sort of game?

For me, the story and atmosphere are worth the price of admission. I would
have preferred to have started off on an Easy setting (which there is not),
to better sit back and appreciate the game for the visuals instead of
fighting for my life, but the game is quirky and fun enough to keep me
engaged.

It's a lot of jumping. It is a platformer after all. If you just hate timed
jumping puzzles you might not like it. There's a lot of combat and a lot of
jumping. And some of the bosses near the end are terribly hard.

What's not to like about timed jumping puzzles?

For me and apparently many others( I started a post once that was called We
don't need no stinking jumping and the vast majority of folks actually
agreed with me which was refreshing. Among thinks I generally do not like
about it is first and foremost I am not any god at it But there are many
others. Often times it feels like me to be game filler to make the game
feel and be I guess longer. Often times the games that have jumping for
some reason, probably many of their consol backgrounds have save systems that
make missing the jump even more irritating. The fact that that the jump
usually adds nothing but a simple test of hand eye coordination than if you
keep missing stops you in the game at that point and unless cheat codes or
some other nonsense your use and finishing of the game or going further
stops and you just spent anywhere from five to fifty dollars or more for an
unfinishable game that often otherwise I was really enjoying and wanted more
of. Prince of Persia was like this for me I was loving it but the jumping
was just to hard for me I admit it. Or at least hard enough it wasn't worth
the effort of trying over and over and having to go back and play the same
part of the game I could do and had enjoyed over and over. Finally as far
as gaming design I fail to get any interest from is a game interesting or
the designer talented from a jumping part only.

If the game lacks a quick-save feature and the jumping puzzle is serial in
nature (you make one jump then another jump etc.) and features death-dealing
damage it could ruin a game. I haven't seen a game w/a jumping puzzle with
these qualities in a long time though, but Painkiller: BOOH has one on
Trauma difficulty (Colloseum level). Why level designers still use
ultra-annoying and time consuming jumping puzzles like these is beyond me.

That little three-part jump nearly made me quit the game at that point!

I got lucky and blasted the boxes beyond the final jump and a board just
happened to land, half-teetering, on the other side. I quick-saved, yet
again, and jumped onscreen, as well as in my chair, and exhaled completely
once I got past those friggin' jumps. Just idiotic. Apparently, People
Cannot Fly, despite what the designers thought (har, har).

I can still hear Daniel Garnier's "Yeeeearrrrgh-guh" death cry and seeing
that stoopid pentagram loading screen. They are etched in my mind!

I've not played BOOH, but you know that in PK you can dramatically
increase your jumping distance by bunnyhopping?

While that's certainly true, that jumping puzzle consisted of 3 gaps you had
to jump over, with ledges of about 1-2 meters width in between, IIRC. If
you'd built up momentum by bunnyhopping, you would clear the first gap
without a problem, but would hop right into the 2nd chasm. So you had to
stop and build up momentum again on that ledge and then you had to time and
place your jump off the ledge just about perfect to clear the second gap.
Then you had to do it again for the last gap.

Compared to some of the secrets it's laughably easy, really, or maybe I'm
just mixing up jumping puzzles in PK+BOOH, hehe. But secrets are optional,
while something like this could well be a gamebreaker for gamers not wearing
silk gloves of godlike dexterity +3
