Hi everyone, to fix the heather bug introduced in 1.6 a patch 1.7 will
be released soon. It will contain the following, any comments welcome:

v1.7
----
Lessened the sway of zoomed weapons and balanced with magnification.
Replaced some male hunters at the Leopold Society with female ones.
Corrected bug that made it possible to get Ox's harvest quest twice.
Restored original funny answers when not being able to read a tome.
Fixed bug of Heather not appearing at the haven for female vampires.
Made Yukie give you the Ra blade after helping her solve her quest.
Removed the Ra blade from Chastity and gave her the old katana back.

Werner don't you feel putting effort in the just released quake 3
source code is more important than making endless new patches for
a single game
i do congratulate you for doing what you are doing with bloodlines
but don't you think 4 patches is already enough and other projects
do deserve your attention

for me the game amateurs community should now focus all attention
to the quake 3 source code cause the possibilities are FABULOUS
do you fully realize the enormous TOTENTIAL quake 3 source code
has concealed
you would not "patch" others work but instead do your own game!

for me a all new type of "new wave" fresh pc game titles coming
from startup newcomer developers and built with quake 3 source
code could be a tremendous REVOLUTION in pc games
and i'm talking about financially too
the best of those games created with quake 3 source code should
be commercial products sold in a cd-rom and we would all buy

aren't John Carmack words so INSPIRING and fuels you to go work
in that game you have been dreaming for such long time

> "And I'm still waiting for someone to have the nerve to do
> this, to actually like ship a commercial game with the
> source code on the CD. I mean, that would be really cool."

> "But if you work with the original pristine source from id,

> commercial product, but we don't want to release our source
> code, so we'd like to buy a license", and we do that at
> reasonably modest fees, we've done that some with the
> previous generation, and that's certainly an option for
> Quake 3."

> "I do hope that one of these days that somebody will go and
> do a budget title based on some of this code, and actually
> release the source code on the CD."

John Carmack gave us the tools to do a REVOLUTION in pc games
and he gave it FOR FREE, now the question is will pc gamers
be up to this historic challenge
i'm only sorry not having a powerful brain for programing and
game design cause if i did i would make quake 3 source code
my exclusive HOBBY for the next year and the result would
probably be a very inspiring game

ps: although i recognize i don't have what it takes to lead
a project for a game using quake3 source code i'm available
to contribute with my modest capabilities so if any theme
wants my contribution i'm here and ready to volunteer, my
strong sides are with packaging/presentation/functionality
were i have some fresh innovative ideas and perhaps even
revolutionary

No. I am not a programmer but just made one of the best games of all times
a little more perfect and I will continue if any more bugs should surface.

Well go ahead and do something yourself instead of endlessly whining here.
I don't like Steam as much as you do, but I think you are overacting...

And to elaborate, it seems that Steamkiller is basically pushing
people to work on the Q3 source code since it can compete with Steam's
Source engine in the modding community. He just wants to shift
resources away from Source, it's pretty obvious.
I like both and would love to see those who like one over the other
work on one over the other.
Admittedly, since the Q3 source code is available it makes things a
lot easier than just modding HL2, but still, there's plenty or room
for work everywhere.
It amazing how he doesn't care what you want to do and just wants you
to work on what he wants.
What a hard core gamer... ;)

How does this interact with previous patches? The highest level
official patch, AFAIK, is 1.2. Do I need the unofficial patches 1.3
to 1.6 or does 1.7 contain all the fixes?

I've got a copy of this game being shipped to me, I want to download
all the required patches in advance of it's arrival.

As there were no more requests or bugs to fix, I uploaded the 1.7 patch to
fileplanet and from there it will be mirrored on the usual sites. I hope I
didn't mess up anything ;), if not, this could be the last patch for VTMB:

v1.7

Lessened the sway of zoomed weapons and balanced with magnification.
Replaced some male hunters at the Leopold Society with female ones.
Corrected bug that made it possible to get Ox's harvest quest twice.
Restored original funny answers when not being able to read a tome.

Yes. It's possible because a) Turvy made a tool to extract the pak files,
b) the dialogues including variables and stuff are plain text files, c)
the scripting is done in python with the uncompiled source files in the
game and d) my HL modding experience helps me change map files with a hex
editor. It must also be mentioned that Dan Upright started these patches
and I took over after he got bored. Which I will be probably soon too ;).

Bloodlines is Source but not Steam, which I like. Also sometimes playing a
level or two downloaded from the web, it seems to me that community work
is going towards Doom 3. After all the Source engine is clearly outclassed
compared to the D3 engine and mods won't look much different to HL mods.

Source is a game engine. Steam is a content delivery system. Please
don't confuse the two like SK has been for months.

I'm aware of that and don't believe that I implied otherwise. My point
is that SK seems to be trying to steer people (modders) away from
anything Valve related because of his bizarre fixation with Steam.

but i openly CRITICIZE any mod creator doing work
for valve steam infected games like hl2 and i even
done last february a thread called:
"hl2 mod creators are disgrace for their kind!"
were i describe hl2 mod creators like this:
"hl2 mod creators are being accomplice of valve
humiliating the gamer
hl2 mod creators are a complete disgrace
doing hard work and then giving it to valve like
a loyal submissive servant
completely repulsive"
i maintain every single word i wrote back then
each time a mod creator does work for a pc game
infected by steam they are helping promote and
support a ABUSIVE system
for me hl2 mod creators are simply traitors

as for quake 3 source code its by far the best
thing that happened in pc games this year and
if the best of the mod community does not grad
this historic opportunity i guess you can say
we missed the best chance to again make pc games
the best gaming platform

for me the quake 3 source code is the best weapon

and if we don't use it perhaps pc games do deserve
all the decline its facing
so again i leave a plea to all
modders of the world leave whatever work you are
now doing specially if its for steam infected games
and focus everything is the quake 3 source code
with quake 3 source code you can create your own pc
games not simply do "maps" for others games

i do hope in a years time we pc gamers will witness
a total revolution and the creation of a complete new
type of pc games, ones done by pc gamers for other
pc gamers with freedom creativity and innovation

ps: let there be no doubt about it bloodlines is a
proper pc game title deserving all respect and being
bought and i don't have anything at all against it
even if uses valve source engine cause my only issue
is with steam not with source and the same applies to
"Dark Messiah of Might and Magic" if its the same as
bloodlines using source but without steam them i will
not say a word against it and will even promote it
competition in the graphic engine market is good so
the more the better and this includes source

That's because you're a jackass who only thinks of himself. You think that
these people giving up their free time and talent deserve being ridculed by
some no-life usenet assmunch like you? Grow up. It's time you realized that
Steam is not the most important thing in life. Maybe if you had some other

I hope they are not too powerful now and the SWAT rifle will still stutter
a little. It seems the whole movement of the weapons stem from the sway of
the weapon animation!

LOL. Yeah right. I've been in this group since before you were a gleam in
yer daddy's eye. I don't have a "career" in gaming. It's just a hobby.
Review sites do not pay money, you just get an occasional free game out of

Wrong. There is no financial interest in it. You're just mad because I'm
pro-steam and that really chaps your hide. You'll say anything about anyone
who is pro-steam to try and make them look bad. It's because your entire
life is a stupid crusade about a stupid computer game. I mean, geez, will

Because it's not important except for modders. All I said is that it wasn't
going to be important for COMMERCIAL purposes.

> cause obviously its not good for any of the things you

Wait, aren't you the one who suggests we need to BUY computer games ALL THE
TIME? I mean, if we're busy playing Quake 3 mods, we're not going to be
buying any new games, so that would HURT the gaming industry. Use your
BRAIN, oh wait, that's right you can't.

Yes, free Quake 3 mods will really help fight Steam. Not.

Because consoles are evil. EEEEEVIL. A Den of STEEENKIN EVIL!!!

Yes, if by "affordable and cheap" you mean FREE. Meaning, NO MONEY.
Meaning, it will hurt the people in the industry who are trying to make
money selling PC games, MEANING, it will HURT THE RETAIL CHANNEL!! OMG!!!

> now let make a deal... i want peace

I've been insulting you for a long time, hotshot. Long before you're great
"discovery" about my "connections" with the Gaming Industry<tm>. It's
because all you do is rant about steam and consoles and piracy without
regard to other people in the group. You treat the group like it's your
personal soap box for whatever hairbrained crusade you happen to be on that
day.

And you're inconsistent. You SAY you want to help the PC retail channel,
then you go all pro-modding, which lets gamers play games for free, and
HURTS the retail channel. Who's side are you on? It seems you only want to
rant and have no actual substance, no point.

> the only thing i ask you is for you to stop promoting

No, I will write whatever I want, because that's what you write. You insult
someone nearly every day, and drive people away, becuase someone posts a
perfectly reasonable question and you try and turn it into one of your
crusades. Maybe if you would just stick to posting your rants in your own
threads and not HIJACK other ones like you have done with this bloodlines
thread I would stop insulting you.
