Computer (wrongly) thinks router not connected to the internet

My computer has stopped connecting to the internet via a wireless router. It can find and connect to the router, but says that the modem isn't connected to the internet. The problem is evidently with the computer, as other devices can connect to the internet perfectly well.

Connecting to the modem with an ethernet cable doesn't change anything. It was working perfectly well until a few days ago, so isn't a new set-up problem.

Have tried re-installing the router software without success.

  1. Hello and welcome to Tom's Hardware Forums.

Use the cable that came with your router to connect to your computer then go Start then Run in XP - or use the Windows key plus R in Vista and Windows 7, then type in the following into the Open box, including all the spaces:-

    cmd /k ipconfig /all

Right click anywhere in that black form and choose SelectAll. Press Enter to put all the text into the clipboard then reply to this post, press Control V to reproduce that text back here so we can see what's going on.
