Some of you may remember the game trading web site GameTZ (www.gametz.com)
and a few of you might recall it from the good old days when it was ugtz.
GameTZ is an excellent site for trading games. You enter in all the games
you have available, and all the games you are wanting, and it automatically
helps find you matches so that you can do trades with people. It has an
automated "offer system" that helps keep track of the trade while it's in
progress. It has great forums. Basically, it has it all.

Now, in 2003 the site went to a subscriber-only for most of the features
other than basic game listing. But the owner has recently decided to open
it back up. While there are a few subscriber-only features, the vast
majority of the site is once again available to all comers. So if you're
looking for some new games and you would rather trade than buy new, come on
over. You can also sell your stuff there if you just want to unload some
things. Or buy!

I don't get paid for this but I am a GameTZ subscriber and I really like
the site. I'm posting this because I want to see the site grow, so that
it's easier to find trades. The more, the merrier.

Cue up SteamKILLER's inevitable response about how trading games hurts the
PC gaming industry.

I used to use that site to make trades but when they went subscriber
based I stopped using it. Will check it out again, thx.

Praxiteles Democritus <no@email.here> once tried to test me with:

> I used to use that site to make trades but when they went subscriber

Yeah, I quit the site when it first went pay because I didn't use the site
enough to be worth the money. Then I amassed quite a lot of games I needed
to unload, so I decided it would be worth the fee, and it was, I got some
really good trades, but I can see why a fee-based site isn't going to work
for people who only trade in low volume, you just can't justify paying if
you only do a few trades a year. Good thing it's free now!

Yes you did. Many times. I guess this is why you love your "x-no-archive:

You're right. It's obvious you haven't bought Riddick because you would have
said so by now. When are you going to stop telling people what games to buy
when you WON'T BUY THE GAME!? Therefore you are a liar and should not post

You're a partisan, I'm not. You like PC games regardless of quality,
I like *good* games regardless of platform.

Which of the over half a dozen groups are you talking about?

The only credible challenge I see is the lack of quality games in the
rpg or turn-based strategy camps. FPS and real-time strat games
aren't my cup of tea, but that seems to be where all the development
is lately.

Rikard, I agree with you for what its worth. I used to have an ISP who

No-archive partisans don't deserve much more.
Come back when you're willing to make peace with all gamers,
regardless of platform.
When you have time for those who use Linux, or Macintosh, or BeOS/Zeta
(which *could* have been a great gaming OS.)
Come back when you'll let your words be remembered.

I won't promise to take you seriously then either. But I'll promise
to offer a fair chance.

It means you're a coward who does not want his words remembered.
And while I can, on occasion, respect the reasons for that cowardice,
I can think of none that apply here.

Therefore, your words are worthless.

Absolutely. And I have the right to consider you a coward who's words

Consoles.

Linux.

So you want to replace one expensive monopoly with another expensive

Why? If it were truly an alternative to windows you wouldn't need

Good reasons to not purchase one. Lousy reasons for actual dislike.

>pc are and will always be multi purpose and this is the
>power behind it

And also the weakness. The PC can't focus on any one thing. A
console can get you better performance (in it's field) for less
hardware, simply because it doesn't have to bloat the OS trying to
account for everything else you might try to do with it.

>> but at least you know it's compatible.
>
>oh no it isn't!
>apple will make sure your pc will not be compatible

Literacy is nice, but it doesn't work without comprehension.

Mac hardware, being proprietary, can be designed to work properly with
everything else in the machine. No resource conflicts, fewer driver
conflicts. Thus, whatever is in your Mac is known to be compatible
with everything else in your Mac.
(Same goes with consoles.)

>> BeOS was an OS that worked on Macintosh and PC hardware.

>we don't want a collection of different operating systems

They present the framework for the software. BeOS would have given
games cross-hardware compatibility between Macs and PCs; and being
designed for multitasking multimedia performance, it would have driven
even greater performance out of your machine than Microbloatware.

The only thing really comparable would have been a custom linux build.

IOW, a cartel. Which is kinda like a monopoly - it's illegal for
pretty much the same reasons (destruction of competition.)

S'funny. Linux is hardly standardized.
