Windows 7 Dual Screen Problem on Laptop

I have a problem with WMAD or Windows Monitor Auto Detect, when I have a LCD monitor connected to my laptop, it second monitor will randomly stop displaying whatever I have on that side. Sometimes I Disconnect then Reconnect and display for Extension or repeat the connection process about 3 or 4 times before Windows 7 makes up its mind to either keep it disconnected or connected
