It is being developed by Cyan - developers of Myst, Riven and Uru.

"Myst V: End of Ages follows the Myst storyline to its conclusion,
closing the book on the Ages of Myst," said Rand Miller, CEO of Cyan
Worlds. "To complete this circle of Myst, we've embraced the idea of
something old and something new. 'New' in regard to pushing forward in
areas of interface and technology. And 'old' [in] getting back to the
simple exploration that made Myst so magical."

Hopefully this will make up for the uninteresting Myst III and frankly disastrous Myst IV. If it's the end of the series, perhaps we'll finally get to see the D'ni. Or Releeshan, at least - it was a real kick in the teeth at the end of Exile, when you don't even get to SEE the age you rescue. But frankly I think it'll take a miracle to save this series from the mess of mediocrity it's in now. If the original designers actually work on it this time then perhaps, but after the last two games the new one will have to not only match but exceed Riven in order to make good, in my opinion.

I thought most of Myst 4 was very good -- it didn't have the overall
design complexity of Riven, and the ending was pretty limp, but it was
still an excellent game.

If you didn't like the last two games, then this one really only has
to beat them to satisfy you, right? :)

It *is* a product of Cyan, rather than Ubi or a third-party
contractor. That's about all we know for sure, except that it'll be a
3D (RealMyst-style) engine.

From reading the press release, I have the impression that Myst 5 is
primarily based on material planned for Uru. I'm sure it'll tie
strongly into Myst 4, and I'm sure it'll shape up as a unified game
(rather than the unconnected vignettes that were Uru and its
expansions). But the 3D engine, the focus on "restoring D'ni", and the
short development timeline implies that Cyan is making use of its
long-term planning for the Uru scenario.

No, that doesn't mean there will be jumping. I don't want to hear any
more about the jumping. :)

I'm still thinking about what to put in this space.

I'm glad to hear that.

I'm not glad to hear that.

I don't care about the jumping. Just give me a save option.

I expect one.

When I say that Myst 5 looks like it's coming out of Uru material, I'm
talking *only* about the background and story, not the interface.
