Grim Fandango endgame hint needed

An oldie but a goodie. I've been going through this *whole game* without
any hints or a walkthrough, which I attribute solely to the game designers.
And I'm loath to spoil this rare experience (which is why I'm posting
instead of searching for a walkthrough or something), but I'm really stuck.
Without spoilers, I'm shooting at a man who's shooting back at me. Neither
of us appear to be running out of ammo, and I'm not accomplishing anything
beyond a bunch of broken glass. Is it that I'm supposed to stand and look
in a particular direction to aim the gun? Because, if it's that, I'm never
ever going to beat this scene. I've tried a bunch of times, and I might
have been able to do it if Manny didn't keep running back to the same spot
every time he gets shot at. Anyway, I would like as gentle a hint as
possible. Do I just have to aim better, or is there a trick?

Thanks.

I got this from http://www.uhs-hints.com. I think it's cryptic enough to
not spoil it for you, but should stop you getting too frustrated.

"Sproutella is still deadly, in a bullet or not."

HTH.

Yes! That completely did it. Thank you much.

What a cool game, btw. And, it worked fine with WinXP (which I had some
concern about -- some older games don't).

Hooray! No worries. I am very much a fan of UHS for adventure games. For
things like GTA or Metal Gear Solid, where you're looking for locations
or strategy guides or whatever, then walkthroughs from GameFAQs can be
useful, but for point-and-click it's got to be hints all the way.

I really loved it. Might have to give it a spin again soon - I've played
it through twice since it was released. Have to finish Syberia 1 & 2
first though. And I quite like the look of The Longest Journey. And I've
recently started the Amazing Queen. And I'd like to get hold of a copy
of Sanitarium...

That's good to know. Not that I'll ever be using XP. My next OS will be
Fedora 3...

In article <355qvnF4htbaqU1@individual.net>, cendare@hotmail.com says...

There's a trick. You can't beat Hector by shooting at him. You have to
try a different strategy. It is, however, slightly complicated.
