There's another poster at r.v.p. who posts as "George", so you may
want to use a different handle if you post there.

I doubt I will be posting
I don't have the solid experiance to get behind with video that I do
with audio
before you know it someone will be telling me is is desirable to clip a
video signal beacuse the trailing wave form will look better

White-clipping in the video is a lot easier on the eyes than FS
clipping on the audio track is on the ears! :-)
There are a few regulars and semi-regulars worthy of your kill-
file over on the video newsgroups, but on the whole they seem
a lot more on-topic than r.a.p

So true, at least at a.v.p., where I mostly lurk. Rich Crowley has
been helpful to me - thanks again, Rich. What with all the flaming
here, it's nice to say good things for a change...

Do you not have the "duty to bring forth protest to the great wrongs that
are being forced on this country" in rec.video.production that you claim
to have here in rec.audio.pro?

If they are great wrongs like autofocus that can't be disabled, cameras with
unbalanced audio inputs and undefeatable automatic gain control, as well
as the &^%$&^!!!! inability to manually white balance, I strongly think
folks have a duty to protest them in r.v.p.

I just finished watching the Space Ship One coverage... no two shots had
the same exposure or color... even the 2-shot of the announcers had some
freaking autoiris that kept cranking open and closed as the lighting changed.
Just awful. Why do people put up with this?

People have been watching TV all their lives. What is the statistic now,
that the average American watches something like five hours of TV a day?
With that sort of experience, you'd think people would be more annoyed by
bad video since they have spent so much time watching at least decent video.

They don't "put up" with it, because for the most part of the
population, attention spans are insufficient to allow such niceties to
be noticed.

Now they are doing an interview with a bunch of crew members, with the sun
over their shoulders. You can't make out any of their faces in the shot...

The air here this morning is crisp and clear, carrying the scent of dew
on the forest and meadow, with the sun illuminating the lovely fall
foliage. Soon I must play guitar. That's the bad news; the good news is
that I do not have television reception.

once I know the posters, and they know me then I will address them with
that
as of yet I still have not figured out how to get to them without
manually scanning 60,000NGs

No single entity has done more to reduce the state of the art
of video than MTV, inventors of "shaky-cam". The insipid
"reality" shows finished off the job. (Although there is a
currently open question about audio for shows like "The
Apprentice" over on news:rec.arts.movies.production.sound)

And these are employed people? Sheesh, who has that kind of time?
<<With that sort of experience, you'd think people would be more annoyed by

But apparently they aren't learning anything from all that watching.
