I recently bought the collector's edition, made a full install of the game,
have recent version of direct X and all updated drivers for my pc (Pentium 4
3.0 Ghz with ATI Radeon X800 Pro).

Although all cut scenes play very nice, the game itself is very slow... the
character moves slower than a snail. Should I patch the thing? I show a
patch in the Microids site but no reference at what issues it solves. Could
that be a solution to having the characters move at a normal speed? Its the
first game that does that to me and I don't see how to solve it.

Thanks for any info.

Cheers to all,
Iakovos:)

From what I've heard this isn't a bug, it's just the way they built the
thing. Syberia is *notorious* for having slow character propagation. This
is really inexcusable, as slow travel between screens has been recognised
by just about everybody as a textbook example of bad game design for years.
However, the rest of the game's wonderful qualities are supposed to make
up for this minor faux pas.

There is a problem with Syberia and computers with hyperthreading.
Installing the patch will fix the problem.

Thanks to both.
I was planning on patching the thing. I'll do that asap.

Cheers,
Iakovos:)

I just installed the patch and it runs fine and smoothly.

Thank you very much.

Of course, she still moves pretty slowly. If you double-click on
her, she will run - until she gets to stairs, at which point she
will hobble up them like a 90 year old.

This really got old for me. I would have appreciated a zip
mode in this game.
