Problems with cisco linksys ea4500 router and xp operating system 6

Hello,
my daughter has an older dell with XP and we cannot get her notebook to accept the wireless connection. She does not have any problm when she gets plugged in. Any sugestions?

What make/model router or accesspoint?
If the wireless connection is encrypted, what level is in use (WEP64, WEP128, WPA, WPA2, other)?
Are you absolutely positive that you know what the key/passphrase is?
What model Dell laptop?
What error message/s do you see? (Be very specific here, post the entire error message)
