I've been wanting a dvd recorder for sometime now. Since now that prices are dropping below $400, I plan to buy one in the very near future. I haven't looked into dvd recording technology for a while now, can anybody recommend a site where they provide good information and give reviews on dvd-r and dvd+r drives? Is there a burner that can do both? If not, which format would be standardized? Oh and another thing, how long does it take to burn a 4.3gig dvd? It takes about 4min for my 24x cd burner to do 700mb, but dvd recorders are like 1x and 2x. Would it take very long or is there a different measuring standard?

oh ya sony's dvd-r/rw can write at 4x dvd-r 2x dvd-rw! thats 15 minutes for a whole 4.7GB's! i think 2x is 30 minutes, 1x is an hour. dvd+r/rw are the same though, 1x/2x.
but dvd-r is widely compatible now with current dvd's anyway.

wait wait wait! dvd writers are suppose to be sub 200 bucks by next year!

Life is irrelivent and irrational.
