Any recommendations for the best video capture/editing/storage HD? Type , config and Mfgr?

I would go for a couple Western Digital WD1200JB 120GB drives /w 8MB cach in a RAID 0 configuration. That should give you plenty of space and optimum thoughput. You may want to get a third drive to use as a system drive. Some manufacturers, such as Pinnacle, suggest such a setup (without refering to specific drives).

The Western Digital special edition series (w/ 8MB cache) is a good choice. If you need extra performance, put a couple of those in RAID0. I have 2 pcs. WD800JB in RAID0, and they rocks!

I imagine the larger cache helps with the reading and writing of large numbers of small data blocks.
