Hi
I have encountered a strange bug.
A week ago it appeared the first time.
All happend with Win2000.
I cnanged to one of my partitions of my 120 GB IBM disk, opened a folder, and zapp.... I got a blue screen with the error message Kernel_Instake_page_error or something like that. I made a restart, and after that I could not access this partition. Windows told me that the partition is not formatted, and asked if I wanted to format...
I have a Backup-OS: Win98.
I started win98, and I was surprised... I had full access to the partition. I tried again with 2000; no access, same message.
The partition had only 1 gb. so I copied that to another partition , formated the "damaged" one, and copied the 1 gb back. After that all worked again...
Yesterday I started a game, and zapp.... same blue scree, guess what happend after the restart...
Partition is not formated, should be formated?...
The bad thing about this is, that now it is the big partition, 96 gb on it... I have full access under win98, but not win2000, and its hard to save 96 gb without another big drive...
I guess this bug appears when somethin, like explorer or a game tries to access on the drive... and it appeared first time, a week ago with Service Pack 3... I did not had that bug with sp2.
Is that bug already known?
Do you have an Idea how to enable access under win2000?
many thx.

Hmmm. an IBM drive.
First of all i would make sure that there were no problems with your drive. Goto http://www.ibm.com and download DFT (drive fitness test) and run the complete drive analysis.
Its possible that your drive has a problem thats only manifesting itself with win2k. Better to be safe than sorry.
