Hi,
I saw on ebay there are several extendable antenna's for the V400. I
recently upgraded from my Nokia 2260 to a V400 but noticed in rurual
areas when on "Partner" on Suncom, I don't get a signal on my V400 (it
says "emergency only", however on my Nokia, I got 3-4 bars. I was
wondering if replacing the standard antenna with an extendable antenna
would help any?

I've seen some comments on HoFo [I think] indicating a small increase in
signal strength. This might help in fringe areas. What I wonder about is
how much to extend the antenna. More isn't always better ... what matters
is that the antenna as a whole is resonant at the frequency used; this
means it must be close to an even multiple (or divisor) of the wavelength.
You "upgraded" from a TDMA phone to GSM ... are you on AT&T by any chance?
Probably originally-higher signal stength was due to the superior (or closer)
TDMA network ...
