Hi,

I've been all over the net and pricewatch. I bought a gigabyte k400 (GA-7VAX) motherboard and now i want some pc2700 CAS2 ram to that combo (pc3200 is not worth it yet).

I've looked into pricewatch and the cheapest cas2 ram is NANYA, but not all the sites say it's cas2.

Which modules would you recommend???
If you know any good deals, please throw in a few links.

Thanks you!

most of the memory brands that are stated as CAS2.5 can and will work at CAS2, but if u want the best out there (like I did), get a Corsair XMS PC2700 CAS2 DDR, designed for gamers and can overclock nicely.
If not, just get Samsung CAS2.5 and i promise you it will work at CAS2

You do like I did. Find the cheepest place theat sells cas 2 ram, then look them up on <A HREF="http://www.resellerratings.com" target="_new">http://www.resellerratings.com</A>. When you read all the bad reviews, go on to the next cheepest and look them up. After you've done this about 10 times, and read that all the cheepest places are selling re-packaged pc2100 overclocked to pc2700, you give up on looking for the lowest price and end up going to a respectable retailer such as <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com" target="_new">http://www.newegg.com</A> or <A HREF="http://www.googlegear.com" target="_new">http://www.googlegear.com</A>.

I'm serious, all the cheepest sellers on pricewatch all had bad reviews. When I got my new RAM 3 weeks ago, I splurged and got Samsung from a local dealer, and haven't looked back. It runs beautifully at cas 2, 2-6-2, and is lukewarm to the touch. It cost me an extra $10 over the no-name brand, but I'm very happy with it.

Oh, and be wary of places that sell RAM with a heat spreader. The heat spreader is put on so that you can't see the markings on the RAM chips, and so that they can sell you cheep overclocked pc2100 as name brand pc 2700 without you being able to tell the difference.

Hehe, holly sh*t, that's exactly what i just have done. got my stuff from googlegear

for 158 they had 512mb that will do cas222@166mhz. that's great, given it costs me about 30 bucks more than samsung from some cheapo dealer on pricewatch.

That's what i bought:
http://www.googlegear.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=80086

along with xp1900 and the new thermaltake volcano 7+ (the hs/fan look very promising[all copper]). All of this will mate with my new GA-7VAX. i hope it will go well...

If you know that there might be some problem wiht any of these let me know soon, i guess i can cancel it until monday.

THANKS!

I got some Samsung PC2700 that'll do DDR316 2-2-5-2T no probs. Haven't tried any higher yet.

...And all the King's horses and all the King's men couldn't put my computer back together again...
