Hi all,
Can I set up my Laptop to utilize my Verizon V710 cell phone as a
modem via bluetooth?

Could you please provide step by step instructions for setting up the
laptop? I already have the V710 preforming as a modem for my Pocket
PC, but I would like to use it in the same way with my laptop if
possible.

Thanks much!
Thanks in advance!!!
Regards,
Steve B.

It would help if you told us what the laptop is and what system you are
running. The step by step can be different depending on those factors.

but to answer your first question, yes, people do have their V710 connected as
a modem to their laptops via bluetooth.

I'm trying to use the 710 as a modem for an HP Ipac, I get the ipac to bond
with the phone, but it won't go into dial mode. Any Ideas? Verizon doesn't
know, HP doesn't know and Motorola doesn't know. They all point the finger
at each other.

16-Jan-2005, From Ellery Davies <Ellery (at) StarBus (dot) com>

It worked right away, Steve. I use it regularly on my Dell Axim X50v PDA
(Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003).

The V710 manual said to follow the directions in the manual of the accessing
device, so I did exactly that. The directions in my Dell Axim manual told me
what to do. Since it contains a Dell connection wizard, it probably doesn't
apply to your iPac, but I bet it is analogous.

The result is pure exhilaration! As long as my phone is within about 30
meters (much father then the documetation claims), I get a solid 14.4 kbps
data connection. The phone recognizes it as a data call and shows the fixed
data rate on the outside display (but it is not billed as such -- just
normal minutes or even free evening+in net minutes).
