Ok, the damn floppy drive on my comp ain't working, and I don't know why. I've tried reseting irq's and all that jazz in BIOS, but it still doesn't work! It tells me IRQ 6 kis also being used by some other device, but it doesn't even say irq 6 exits! Please help before I throw this piece of trash out the window.

Don't throw it out yet. I have had sporadic problems with my floppy drive
since installing WinXP. Bought new drive and new cable. Still goes nuts
now and then.
I have no answer. Maybe someone else does.

Haven't heard of that one. I don't use my floppy drive often enough for me to notice...
What does it do?

When you insert a good disk, it says it isn't formated and asks if you want to format.
Boot to Win2k and it works fine.
Strange huh?

see mine doesn't even let me access the floppy. Rather, in system properties under hardware it says floppy is sharing IRQ w/ another device. I need floppy cause I don't want to waste a CD every time I move a file to old comp.

edit: by not access floppy I mean it doesn't even appear in my computer.

Sure....but I'll tell you guys the easier and more secure method which I found out today works. Basically, XP installs this thing called TPKD which is some antipiracy crap, but this may cause conflicts, and give u certain errors, one of these being that your floppy IRQ doesn't have enough resources. This can be fixed by a driver update for it.
