hooking up my monsoon pm-9's tommorrow, anyone know some good songs that test the sound quality of speakers. not interested is super bass songs, rather songs or parts of songs that illustrate the clarity presented by the speaker system. Off the top of my head, enya's silent night will sound interesting, as will steve via's star spangled banner, and i cant wait to hear some guitar based rocking blues like zepplin, johny winter and Stevie ray vaughn. any others?
Tool Lateralus. It should provide a good range of sounds for testing. I do agree that No More Tears would be a good song also, but it was originally recorded with analog equipment. I believe Tool is DDD and should provide a crisper, clearer sound. Also experience the greatest drummer to set foot on this earth, Danny Carey.
To start press any key. Where's the "any" key? --Homer Simpson.
Most any CDROM by Manheim Steamroller or Yanni. Phantom of the Opera soundtrack has a wide sound range.
Also experiment with the MIDI files from WIN98 and WIN95.
Third - IF you have a cable or DSL connection, test various internet radio stations that use WINAMP and Internet speeds for higher quality sound.
Fourth - Aureal had a CDROM with a nice set of tests / demos for A2D sound that did a good job if isolating speakers and channels. The CDROM was promotional at the time I obtained mine. I understand Aureal went belly up, so you may have to surf the net for the tests as I think some of them were posted and downloadable.
