Router cannot be located

Hello,
I set up a new WIFI router. My laptop found the router, no problem. Later in the week my laptop said there was no connection, in fact nothing wireless can find the router. I tried turning it off and starting over. Router comes on but I cannot go into my browser to check the troubleshooting. It tells me I do not have authentication

did you connect the laptop via network cable and tried to access the router?
