Motorola 9505 - enabling mode selection to use GSM cartridge

I have a Motorola 9505 Iridium satellite phone and was recently able to
obtain a GSM cartridge for the phone (those are no longer in
production). However, I am unable to access the GSM cartridge.
According to the manual that came with it, I should have a "Mode
Selection" command in the Options menu. That command does not exist. In
general, the menus that are available on my phone are much more
restricted than what Motorola publishes in the official 9505 manual on
their website in PDF.

Does anyboyd know, what **xxxx# code I need to enter to unlock the full
features of the phone? How else can I enable the GSM cartridge on the
9505?
