greetings folks! i have been a system builder for many years but have never had anything to do with wireless connections. have always used a cable 'modem' for my broadband. my current system board does not have a wifi chip (asus p5q).
i have a virgin media cable setup that is not a router. recently, i bought a samsung galaxy s 4.2 wifi media player and would like to add a wireless access point, as public stuff is not viable.
i have no idea what the capabilities of wireless routers are!! am i able to buy a wireless and wired router, re-route the sole ethernet connector through the router and achieve a wireless access point? or am i going to fall foul of configuration problems in terms of my virgin connection; mac addresses or whatever they are called. will the mere presence of a wireless router constitute an access point for my media player? pardon my total ignorance. simple terms please!
