ARGHHHH!!!! It cannot be done!

Using FF3, with AAR set to easy in F4Patch and in the sim options. When i
try and match speeds with the tanker he pulls away, and when i speed up i go
shooting past. Is their a trick to it?

It was so easy in Janes F15 as well (autopilot did it!).

Yes, it can, but it take finesse with the throttle to actually match
speed with Texaco.. VERY small changes in throttle is the key.

(1)Small inputs
(2)Remember, the desired locations of the two vehicles are way ahead of the
point where you make the control adjustments. Don't move toward the tanker.
Move toward the asymptotic approach curve.

Good luck: we're all counting on you.

On my first couple of trys (years back), I'd get frustrated enough that I'd
just ease back, then blow the tanker out of the sky. Funny thing was, I
actually felt a tinge of remorse. Weird.

It's been a long time since I flew falcon regularly, but a-a refueling was
something I used to do to check "practical" framerates, i.e., the
"smoothness" of sims after various tweaks and upgrades. If the sim is
running jerky, it's harder to refuel. If it is smooth, then it's easier.

I found it easier to do the higher the reality setting. At the time there
was a checkbox that gave the "50 percent user, 50 percent AI" refueling
assist. I found that buy eliminating the check from that box, I could tank
easier. It was as if the AI "help" was causing me to overcontrol the
aircraft.

Just my $.02 worth.
