Hi guys!

This is a pretty standard Power Supply question. However, I have had some pretty NON-standard PC problems of late & suspect the PS is the evil component here ---> http://forumz.tomshardware.com/hardware/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=58339#58339

My PSU is some crappy looking "Codegen" 300W. The specs it gives are;
+3.3V - 14a +5V - 30a +12V - 10a with a max power for these of 165W

My system specs are;
AMD 1.4Ghz
256M ram
2x 40G HDD's
Burner
DVD drive
Soundblaster Live 5.1

Now my problem is adding another HDD. I'm wanting to throw in a 120Gb Western Digital (8mb Cache) HDD. Will this sad little power supply be able to handle the extra load? Incidently, my PC sometimes has been sleeping instead of shut-down & even sleeping instead of powering up fully when I start it (but this could be the WONDERFUL WinME).

What do you reckon?

If the consensus is "More power to ya", anyone have any suggestions for a "silent" PSU? Oh, and does it REALLY matter if the PSU is not officially supported by AMD?

THANKS GUYS!!

"Ok, is it plugged in ?"
"What do you mean 'IN?' "
"Oh... God...shoot me..." :(

You've forgotten to mention some other important components, such as graphics card, motherboard, add'l PCI cards (NIC or modem), case fans, and heatsink fan.

I seriously doubt that you'll be okay, unless you get a better quality PSU.
