Actually, I had no idea what they went through until I played BattleField 1942, then read about it in Time from a week or two ago... I read what those men and women went through @ Omaha Beach! HOLY SHITE, I can't believe we took that beach!! That was an extremely moving article, had interviews with maybe a dozen or so survivors, from both sides, on what they remember about that day. First one was injured 4 times that day, and still kept going... First bullet skipped off his helmet. Second bullet he took went through his cheek, shattered his upper jaw, and blew out his other cheek on the exit. I believe the third one hit his face too, and eventually, he was picked up by some medics, and was shot in the leg while on the stretcher!! Wow...
Anyway, the game plus the article really opened my eyes... And I now have even more respect for anyone that fights for their country.
