Many of you probably are, but for those that are not aware.

If you like flying a campaign, and feel like the default campaigns are not
that great or as dynamic as you would like, you really should try IL2 DCG
( dynamic campaign generator).

Read up on it and get a feel for it. I use the full auto generation mode
which replaces the dgen file included with IL2. It is much, much better and
way more dynamic. If you use full generation mode, be sure and back up your
dgen file, would be a good idea to put it back when upgrading with a patch.

You can get IL2 DCG here: http://www.lowengrin.com/content.php?article.11

Good tutorial here:

Imho, a must have for anyone that enjoys flying a good campaign.

I am currently flying the pacific 42 campaign, and it is generating some
really great and fun missions. Plus I don't like flying forever to get to
the action, and it was easy to reduce the radius so the flights would be
shorter. There are a lot of settings you can tweak.

You got my attention with that item. Thanks for the head's up, Don.

Mr. Sylvestre, on his way to try DCG.

Wow thanks for sending me to this terrific program. Really makes Pacific
Fighters come alive. Looking around with my now cant live without it Track IR
and feeling like I am in a much updated PAW flying for the Marines in
Guadalcanal.

Lots of fun...now if they can just come out with the same app for Lo Mac.

Great!

I was afraid I might be the last one to stumble across that program, so I am
glad I posted the info!

I got so tired of the default dgen , seems like I kept flying the same damn
missions over and over, and the length was way too long, even using time
skip.
Like you, this DCG program has brought a whole new immersiveness for me.

Track IR3 Pro - all I can say it unbelievable. I rarely use the map now in
dogfights, using my line of site with the Track IR to keep up with the enemy
bandits, what a great feeling to do that, maneuver to get on one's six, and
bring em down!
I wish Oleg would write support for the Vector expansion for it, but at
least BOB will have it when it is released - I am going to go ahead and
order the Vector anyways.

Glad to hear you got your Track IR dialed in. I would highly recommend
getting rid of that padlock view, it will be a crutch for you, much as the
map was a crutch for me. I would much rather be looking where to find where
I want to go, rather than being pulled to the direction I should go.

With the technology today, I will be back in flight sims for a while now. I
plan on picking Lomac up this week as well - haven't flown a decent modern
jet sim since Janes FA18. I have EECH installed, and with the user mods
available for it, it is awesome, and has track ir support also. I am just
spending so damn much time now with Pacific Fighters, haven't even ran EECH
since getting the Track IR device... and I am really looking foward to
running it with it.

Actually the guys doing TSH seem to have Janes F/A-18 dialed in...been looking
at the stuff they have availible and it looks great. Maybe time to get back into
that....
http://tsh.war-fighters.net/?tshmain=download&dlid=50

I have the Mod for Red Baron that I havent ever loaded up...bought it simply to
support the guy doing it. Silly ass that I am.

That was a sim that I loved until they took the soldiers out of it...some
weenies complained about the framerate hit. I loved flying over the front and
hearing the charges.

Alternatively, just re-install Falcon 4.0 and patch up to the latest
versions which have native Track IR support built in. Showing a bit of age
with the graphics, but still a great experience with the killer dynamic
campaigns.

I hate to admit it, I have never owned any of the Falcon series.

I tried bidding recently on Ebay, on Falcon4 in original box with bound
manual, and lost out.
Perhaps someday I will pick this one up - obviously it has a huge following.

WHAT?? Your insolence is matched only by your ignorance!!!! :)
Seriously, you should get yourself a copy. Even if it's just a CD-only
purchase - you can get the manuals online in PDF format and print them out
(double sided, 2 pages per page of course). If you think DCG adds to the
immersion factor of a campaign you ain't seen nothin' yet.

DCG is the ultimate savior of Il2. If you get it, I highly recommend
Tailspin's "Grand Mini" addon to DCG (also available at Lowengrin's
website). Very comprehensive set of additional campaigns with a lot
more road routes between opposing supply depots. The campaign I'm
doing now is incredible. The Hungarian Civil War - 1939. I'm flying
Gladiators J8A vs Fiats 42s and Fiat 50s. Beautiful bi-plane action
using the Balaton Map. Anyway, the campaign is exceptional. Another
campaign included in the Grand Mini is called 'Fatherland '44'. All
out defense of Berlin from massive B17 bomber streams

Ok, ok, I will keep an eye out on Ebay again. While I would love to have the
original boxed version with that huge manual, I reckon I can settle for less
if need be :).

Wow, sounds great, thanks for the info. I will check it out. I am still so

I just printed out the original manual and put it into a 3-ring binder.
It's a whopping 500+ pages so don't even *think* about color, and make sure
to go front and back (and ideally 2 pages per page) to save a couple of
trees. :)

I will definitely keep that in mind - thanks!

This is not entirely true; going through the original manual's training
missions (31 in all) is a worthwhile exercise - at least I found it to be
so, the first time through. The basics like takeoff, landing, dealing with
the radar and HUD and MFDs are not sufficiently covered in the later
manuals. Of course you'll have to relearn some weapons systems for the
updated versions but the basics are right there in the original handbook.

I've made it through Lesson 12 so far... :)

I wish I knew what it was but I have never been able to get much out
of DCG. I just grabbed the latest version (3.06), did a fresh install
of FB/AEP/PF, upgraded to 3.04m , installed DCG, installed the new
Grand Mini. I get an error if I create a Hungarian Camp., Mission
Failed: hu3-5hu3 NOT found". If I try and pick the DCG Hungarian
Campaign it goes to a 2nd page with 4 choices, one of which if 39 CW.
I hit "Generate" and nothing happens. Tried it with DGEN replaced, not
replaced, Auto-Gen on/off, nothing works. Started Japan DCG campaign
and it worked fine...

Ideas?
Thanks

I downloaded the GrandMini last night and after spending 20 minutes reading
through the doc files, scratched my head and went back to regular DCG
missions.

I feel better now.. lol

I posted on the SimHQ IL2 Forum and BOTH Tailspin (Grand Mini) and
Lowergrin (DCG) replied! Its a DCG problem with the new Grand Mini and
its fixed in 3.07 (not out yet). I *think* they are sending me 3.07
beta and i'll let ya know. I LOVE the bi-planes in IL2 and have had
the most fun in HL with biplane battles, thats why I got excited about
the Hungarian 1939 Civil War! hehe

It *does* sound fun. An interesting twist on the usual Bf109 vs. La7 scene.
Let me know if it works, and I'll get a campaign going. Hell, why don't we
get a co-op campaign going together? I think I read in the liner notes that
it can be run either as a single-player campaign, or as a co-op.
