My take is that 300w is plenty for you. But here's the rub.
Read through the psu posts and you'll find that every brand has some positive and some negative posts, even the more proven brands like enermax/antec. Someone will say enermax is great and another guy has had two that sucked. One guy will say raidmax is great and another guy will say its a discounted piece of crap waiting to prove to you that you get what you pay for. You can get a 400w generic for $21 shipped to your door and it might work great or it might make you feel like a dolt for buying it. My take is its a crap shoot. I have no advice other than to err on the high side, like 350w or 400w.
For a p4 2.4, ummmmmmmmmm....... no, 250watt would be VERY unlikely to work stabily. I would reccomend to get a good brand 400-500 watt PSU, this would give you enough power for OCing etc and also keep you safe for future power demanding upgrades. Most ppl on this forum would reccomend either Enermax or Antec power supplies, but I can say that many cheaper ones just cant supply the current needed even if they are rated for higher watts.
Another thing, I would reccomend getting a new monitor. 14" is pretty small and monitors have recently developed a lot in terms of flat technology, higher resolutions/ refresh rates etc.
My sig's faster than yours, and it overclocks better too....
Everything you ever buy you should buy locally so you can take it back if you don't like it. Buy a big psu and if it makes you stable then great and if not then take it back. And keep up that I'm stoned attitude because it works in person but never over distance, which is why I say buy everything locally.
Try a new Samsung 17" monitor ($99 at Sam's Club) and if you do not not like it take it back.
thanx for the advice guys and hey whats wrong with my sig jonoh??
yeah i know 14" is the pits but i want to wait a bit before getting a new one coz i want the flat panels to go more cheaper and oh my present one runs fine at 75Hz refrsh and 1024*768 which i believe is good enough.
i dont like the CRT monitors theyre too big for my liking and guys i live in india so can u suggest a good site which can deliver internationally without much warranty problems
I have a 19" Viewsonic GS790. It's a shortdepth monitor that actually takes up less space than my old 15" monitor. Just FYI, take what you will from it
With PSU's its far better to err on the side of caution and get a PSU greater than what you may minimally need because: The PSU wont be running at full load, so will be cooler, provide cleaner power, and less likely to burn out.
Having extra juice at hand is also useful future insurance should you decide to get more juice sucking components a fe months or years later.
More powerful PSU's also tend to have longer cables and more molex connectors. Always useful to have some spare for extra drives.

Ooooo. Tough call.
Sorry man, I dont know of any online retailers that serve India.
Possibly an online search might bring up some store...
