I think Verizon blocked you from doing this with MPT. Use the transflash
card instead.

I've got a v710, too, and from what I can see, Motorola/Verizon did
everything they could to keep you from using downloaded ringtones,
etc. They want you to BUY them from GetItNow.
Wish I'd known that before I bought the damn thing.

You -can- do it. What works for me is converting the MP3 to a constant
bitrate of 64Kbps and make it mono. A good freeware program for
converting audio files is SWITCH (http://nch.com.au/switch/index.html).
(click the Encoder Settings button to adjust these settings)
For some reason, if you click "Transfer" on the "Melody Studio" screen
in "Mobile Phone Tools", it will give you this error, even if the MP3
meets the above criteria. Instead, just drag the MP3 file you want to
add to your phone on the "Mobile Explorer" screen.
If you're looking to edit your MP3 prior to adding it to your phone...
a good program to use is Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/).
However, I can't get Audacity to save MP3's with a constant bit rate.
So, you'll need to edit your MP3/WAV with Audacity, save it. Then open
it with Switch, convert it to 64kbps CBR mono, then drag it over with
Mobile Phone Tools.

Yeah I dont think so. I have edited the files to 64 bit with that switch
program and it did nothing. No matter what size file I send my phone it
can not save the file. When they advertise it plays .mp3's I really
want mp3's WITHOUT limits.
