Fujitsu Lifebook AH530

My son has a Fujitsu Lifebook AH530 running Windows 7 & the WiFi has suddenly stopped working. A message comes up when the laptop has booted informing that the WiFi has been switched off with the Hardware switch but using the FN + F5 key has no effect (the light goes off & on) but the WiFi isn't working. I have tried a system restore, have uninstalled & re-installed the network card & checked that the drivers are upto date. Is this a hardware of software issue?

By hardware switch it probably means an actual switch or button that needs to be pressed or switched. If you pick up the laptop and look closely around the sides you will most likely find one somewhere ther. Usually they are in front or on the sides of the laptop.
