I have an HP notebook with a wired and wireless ( lan express ieee 802.11)
network adapter. They are installed under XP Home and they are bridged.
When I am connected via the wired adapter I can do all my networking just
fine. When I disconnect, the wireless adapter says it is connected to the
network with excellent signal strength but there is no network
functionality.

IPconfig says the ip address is 0.0.0.0 and the same for subnet mask. DHCP
server is 255.255.255.255.

There may be a problem with the wireless adapter connecting and
disconnecting. The little ballon window, on the taskbar, shows connected
with excellent signal strength. It will then flah to disconnected, then
back to connected. This happens often but not all the time, so it may be
connecting and disconnecting frequently but the taskbar just does not
reflect the changes every time or it may be just occasional. The IPconfig
settings never change. The wireless connection window telss me that some
bytes are being sent and received but the count is very low.

What might be wrong? What might I try?
