My dad is looking to get a new <A HREF="http://www.samsungusa.com/cgi-bin/nabc/product/b2c_product_detail.jsp?eUser=&prod_id=NB19BSHSV" target="_new">monitor</A> and his current video card (GeForce3 Ti-200) only has analog. I can pick up a 9600XT at <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-102-326&catalog=48&depa=1" target="_new">Newegg</A> for $151.
Is the DVI output worth it? How noticable is the difference. All he does is office apps and surf the web. I know there are cheaper cards with DVI, but if he is to get a new card it should be an upgrade and not just a output.
And does anyone have <A HREF="http://www.samsungusa.com/cgi-bin/nabc/product/b2c_product_detail.jsp?eUser=&prod_id=NB19BSHSV" target="_new">this</A> monitor. Is it a good monitor?
There IS a difference with DVI. But in all reality, if he's just a casual Office/Web user, it's probably not going to be a big deal. Why not buy the best panel you can for what you have now? Any LCD worth it's salt with have a DVI input anyways, so you can always upgrade your vid card later.
