I ran my Western Digital 80Gb (Special Edition) drive in SisoftSandra
yesterday and was somewhat dissapointed at the results I got.
32Mb/s...could this be right?, I expected around 40-45Mb/s.

I´ve installed latest 4In1´s...
A couple of months ago I installed a 'stand alone' IDE driver from VIA that
dramatically increased my performance, problem is I can´t find it or remember
the name of it now, anyone know what I´m refering to?

Thanks...

Sisoft sandra tests the filesystem and the not drive. So if you have a lot of files on the drive and if its fragmented a lot those are the scores you get.
Try defragmenting before testing, or use HDTach to test the drive without concern on the filesystem.

The filesystem? who cares about that?, I want a raw performance test, pfah!
Well, I try HdTach out and see if things gets any better.
Thanks.

Ok...I checked HD tach and got following results.

Sequential speed (the graph) is in the top of the screen the whole time, I asume this is good?

Random Access times is 9,2Ms

Read Burst Speed is 80Mb/s

Readspeed, Max:49,5Mb/s, Min:42,6Mb/s, Avg:48,5Mb/s

So, does everything looks good?

Access time 9.2 Megaseconds? I just assume you mean milliseconds (ms)
but anyway, yes, I think that look reasonable.

That Cant Be. Be careful about those capital/small letters.

(Envious drool) 42MB/s minimum... I'd like that on my rig. Who cares about writes, on my rig and everyday use, the ratio is roughly 90/10 in favour of reads. I WANT min. 40MB/s reads...
