Since whenever there's a musical special broadcast, someone seems to
comment on the great or lousy audio here, I'm wondering why I've not
seen anything about the Ray Charles tribute Friday night on CBS. I was
out so I didn't see it, and I'm not particularly interested in tribute
shows anyway, but I was just curious.

Maybe it was pre-empted by a ball game or presidential debate?

It was ok, but it could have used Ray.

I was doing something else while it was on so I wasn't listening
critically, but it was ok and the orchestra sounded smooth. BB KIng was
great, Bruce Willis needs to understand better when to play rhythm on his harp,
he should've laid back when BB was playing fills; when BB was singing he had
plenty enough space. I thought Mary J. Blige came off with an authentic old
school class, she did a very good job I thought. She could use a classic
vibrato, but she nailed it and I was pleasantly surprised.

Umm - but the only way I can make sense of Ellen Degeneres introducing
Elton John singing his second song is the show being a commercial for a
Hollywood movie.

Don't know about the Tribute, but I did watch Howard's PBS channel of
Charles' last recording, or at least the last part of it. Interesting to
see how, within the last year, Ray just faded away, although his voice still
seemed quite strong in emotional delivery.
