File server and domain controller

How has file server been affected by promoting your server to a domain controller? and what are file sever actually do?

File server.. ah... serves files. It's just a fancy name for a computer with files and folders setup for sharing over the network. Nothing will change with it if it's a domain controller, it will be a bit busier so could slow down a bit.

You are asking your questions backwards though, you first should know what a file server does, then learn more detailed info.
