Using a router from an ethernet port

I have an ethernet port in the wall in my uni room which allows me to use the internet when i plug an ethernet cable between the port and a laptop etc. Is it possible to plug a router into the ethernet port so that I can have wireless internet in the room? Thanks

I asked this question before and found out that it should be possible, but does anyone know if it's got to be a special router or not?

  1. Yes, it should work fine, and no special router is needed.
