Realistic civil FS? Like old days...

Hi.

I'm wondering if there is around a nice realistic flight simulator like
ATP (Air Transport Pilot) in the old days.

What I'd like? Simple! Communications (tower, ground, markers, vor
id...) and the use of real flight maps (frequencies and topology). ATP
had it all, and it also had a Pilot Campaing, you could fly for a
company and have ratings of your skills.

Is there something like that? It seems that nobody wants a comprehensive
simulation anymore...

How do current versions of MSFS lack what you're looking for?

Real communications... I don't see a way of flying (from ground, taxi,
clearance, routes...) with the com assistance... I mean, ATP had every
com you wanted (request change altitude, runway in sight, missed
approach, request ramp... and really everything).

FS seems just a flight sim, not using coms... If I'm not right, can you
point me somewhere where I can find detailed info? (not on MS site...)

There are a couple of 3rd party applications that will give those features
for you in FS2004.

One is Radar Contact
http://www.jdtllc.com/

Another is VoxATC which allowys you to actually talk to the "controller"
with your mic.

Of course if you want to really liven things up, head over to Vatsim where
you can communicate with real human controllers (plenty of whom are real
professional pilots and ATCs)
