Network Security Key?

i have an unsecured wi-fi set up but i was told it is better to have one that is passord protected--i have tried with no luck -do I have to delete the existingDlink set up and start all over or can i have 2? the name on my router is DWL-G800XX and it has an ip address on the router along with the user name and password but all i get is that it failed and to seek help.I am at the point where I am seeking help(can you tell) thanks all gary

  1. Follow the instructions from this thread. And if you still can't connect, you can "hard-reset" your router and start from scratch.

  2. Find or Change Your Internet Security Passphrase


    1)Open the web browser that you use: Firefox,Google Chrome,IE,or Opera and type in the IP address for your router,and press the Enter key.

    2)A window will open and then type in your routers default username and password,and press the Enter key again

    ***** Username and Password may also be located on the side or bottom of your router *****

    3)Navigate to the Wireless Security\Network Security Settings Tab and open to locate or change your WEP or WPA Security Passphrase.
    Use WPA because it provides better security.

    4)Write this Security Passphrase down and put it in a safe place to access when needed.

    5)Save settings and close your browser.
