any thoughts on the merits of each drive?

Well i have a 800JB and its very Fast yet quiet.
As the Max 9 isn't out yet its impossible to judge. We have yet to see how it stacks up against the W.D. JB line. Looks promising though!

And now both drives have additional merits over their plain 2Mb cache cousins... They still retain 3 year warantees!
