F4:AF - CTDs!

Is anyone else getting loads of CTDs when they are playing this game?
Whereas I can see the good points of the game its actually bloody annoying
to keep getting CTDs every few hours. At the moment Ive had a CTD about
every two/three missions varying from ones in the 3D part of the game to
ones in the campaign map. I dont get any such things with other games.

At the moment I would say the game is verging on unplayable! I cant honestly
remember F4 with FF3 being this bad at all. Im starting to think that this
Allied Force is going to be a bad egg. Which will be a real shame because I
actually like it quite a bit. I know everyone may say be patient and the
bugs will get fixed but to be honest I bought this game becuase it was
stated by the developers that the game was rock solid and stable. In fact
this was stated as one of the main reasons to actually buy the game compared
to other versions of F4. At the moment all I can say is this was a false
statement by them.

Considering the wealth of talent that F4 has had behind it in the past and
the speed that the bugs were squashed to come back to this kind of buggy
game really breaks my heart. I was at least hoping that the game would now
be a fresh stable base on which to build. At the moment this definitely isnt
the case.

I've been playing it for a while now and haven't experienced a single CTD
and thats on my laptop! Some users here have said that they got a few issues
when Alt-Tabbing. Also I beleive there are issues if you use 'basic'
avionics rather than realistic and these are being fixed in the next patch.

ALT-Tab gives me a CTD, other than that 100% stable.

Maybe you're right, NHL 2005 is better, screw this!

I know it doesn't help m8 - but I haven't noticed any CTDs at all.

Running on Acer Ferrari 3200 notebook ( Athlon 64, Radeon 9700 ).

Could be F4AF doesn't agree with your hardware or drivers? What Gfx
card & drivers are you using?

I only seem to get them on interdiction and FAC missions. It may be pure
luck but there does seem to be a pattern emerging.

Hmmm. I don't think I've had a single CTD in "client" mode -after many
hours of play. However, when I've run AF in "server" mode, hosting a
TE or campaign, I've had a few. Hints from Frugal's are:

1) Avoid ALT-TABbing if you can help it.
2) Close/restart AF after a theatre switch or failed multiplayer
connect.

Most of my missions have been OCA or sweeps. I'll try a few
interdictions to see if they're worse. What theatre were you in when
you had problems?

Adamski.

Actually I think it may be the fact that I was using 16bit graphics mode and
turned off anisotropic filtering to try to get the game speeded up a little
whilst at my airbase. I must admit that I never got any CTDs for my first
ten or so missions and that the CTDs have all happened since I messed around
with those settings. So I'll turn them back and see what happens. Thanks for
the advice.

Got two last night - first time (other than 3 finger salute) that it
happened. And both were in multiplayer when I was futzing around with
the Maverick.
