Wireless Adapter

Can anyone suggest a good wireless adapter?

Need to buy immediately, I'm currently using an old 54mbps wireless G adapter from TP-Link, i checked their site, the product wasn't there anymore so I can't provide specs and link to my wireless adapter.

Any suggestion on good wireless adapters? I will use it for BackTrack 5 (for neighbor's wifi)

I never had any issues with my Gigabyte Wireless adapter, however I haven't required one for about 5 years now so this knowledge is about 5 years old.

I doubt that the adapter is any worse from Gigabyte though.

The ones most people like for backtrack are made by alfa. I have used a awus051nh for a while but they are out of production, you can get awus052nh outside the US. Not sure when they will come out with a new dual band. The AWUS036NH is good for 2.4 and is easily available.

The key advantage to these is they support packet injection and they have external antenna connections that let you attach large directional antenna. They also work well for general use.

For backtrack use you always want external antenna connections. Unfortunately most people do not like external antenna so the selection becomes limited and with more devices going mimo you may need 3 antenna

My adapter still works fine, but it's capping at 54mbps, and my neighbor has 150mbps. Hehe..

Oh right, that was the brand I was looking for that I forgot all these years. Alfa!
Too bad they're not in production anymore. What a waste..

Just remember to get 150 you must 1st be able to run wide channels. Then you must run the encryption as WPA2-AES and disable the mixed mode and run only N. Any of these fail to be met and you are right back to about 54m

The awus052nh has never been released anywhere on this planet. Sites will claim it but then try to sell you the awus051nh and saying that the awus052nh will be coming soon. It has missed it's release date twice(Oct 2012,April 2013) and one can only wonder if it bodes well for this product.
