I´m about to lay my hands on a pair of Senheiser MD 421´s. They are
complete with original holders, but there are one thing that puzzels
me - they have no bass roll off switches?! I have never seen a MD 421
without one, and I never use the feature. Does anybody know if there
is something special with this model? Is it as good as a "standard"
421, with the bass roll of switch?!

Are you sure they're not 521s? The 521s are the same shape, but they
don't have the rotary rolloff switch.

Does it have an XLR connector or a Tuchel? The L suffix is the one with
the XLR connector and the low-cut network, but there are a whole bunch of
other models out there that were common.
If you want to change to an L model, you can order a barrel connector assembly
ans replace it.

I have a pair of MD521 with XLR connectors, no switch, marketed as
part of the "Blackfire" series in North America. They sound like MD421
with the switch in the M position.
