im planning to build a computer soon. not like any of the monsters that ive read about on here, but a solid budget computer. i aint rich so i'm planning to just use a duron 1.3ghz/256mb ram/and all-in-one mobo and like components. im trying to cut costs so...i looked at ram. SDRAM is a lot cheaper than ddr ram and im wondering if the price increase is justified by it's performance over sdram. how much is added to your computer's performance by using ddr ram pc2100 over pc133 sdram? 10%? 20%?

thanks

Usually, DDR is about 20% to 25% faster than SDRAM.
But it all depends on what you're planning to do with the PC. Also, SDRAM is not future-proof. You might find it hard (if not impossible) to upgrade in the future with an SDRAM solution in hand.
If all you do is surf the Web and type some texts, an SDRAM solution will provide all the power you need today. But as applications require more and more performance (XP, games and even Word), it might be wise to go ahead with DDR now.
Prices on SDRAM have started to go up (well, in my area) while DDR's are down.
