I'm found that I have the wonderful ability to change my CL value on my motherboard. I have a CL2.5 (pc2700) Dimm in my comp now. If I change it to CL2 what would be the outcome? A gain in heat, or is the value so built into the chip that it will cause instibility. Do I have to buy a new Dimm to take advantage of CL2?

instability would be the risk. Most reasonable quality DIMMS should be able to take it. I know my Samsung 2.5's easily go to 2. YMMV. Give it a shot.

Ditto. Worst case scenerio it won't POST, then you just jumper reset the BIOS and set it back to 2.5. Most retail RAM that I've come across will run at 2.0. The exception is cheep ram bought via pricewatch.

So set it to 2.0. If it posts, try to crash your computer by repeatedly running the largest/most CPU intensive programs that you own. If it doesn't crash, then keep your new settings. If it does crash then set it back to 2.5.
