I am having this on my next mobo and was wondering if I should purchase a real soundcard, like Audigy2 or is it just horible the Realtek 650? Which rates first and last of these: Cmi, Ac97,Realtek650?

Do you have good speakers? If you do not have a good speakers than you cannot tell the difference.

Correct me if I'm wrong: C-Media and Realtek are the sound chip while AC '97 is the CODEC. And C-Media actually has slightly better sound quality than Realtek but both of them can be easily beaten by a modern sound card. Of course they cannot even hold candle for Audigy2, which is the BEST sound card now. But I think you should save the money and get yourself a moderate sound card like Hercules Fortissimo III plus good quality speaker since Audigy2 is way too expensive to buy now.

Ok, thx just wanted to know if it sucked but I don´t want to by a real soundcard that is anything less than Audigy2. I will wait till Audigy2 is at a reasonable price. I have an 2.1 system the blue from creative and headphones. Audigy2 is the best future gaming card and supports eax3 and have better specifications so anything less isn´t reasonable.
