building a new comp. it'll probably be running a 1600-1900+ athlon chip. it'll be using it mostly for internet, watching movies, and playing some games. i haven't decided which os though, either win98 or xp. if i were you, would buy 256mb pc2700 333 ddram or 512mb pc133 sdram?

thanks

If I had a board that supported DDR you wouldn't even be able to make me put the SDRAM into my computer, unless it was to test it before I sold it.

Go with DDR.

ditto. You'll get roughly 20% better performance with DDR, depending on the application.

What does running a 1600-1900XP have to do with PC2700 Ram?

Running win 98, yes. Running win XP, usually. XP uses alot of RAM just for running the OS. 9 times out of 10 256 megs will be enough but that tenth time it will have to swap to the hard drive, which is a heck of alot slower than pc-133 RAM.

I would still go with DDR myself. pc2100 speed would be enough, but if you plan on upgrading again within the next year or so then get pc2700.
