I recently switched out the wi-fi router that comcast installed (it was a netgear I think) with a Dlink601. I have internet on my desktop and the install seemed to go fine but I can't seem to connect my ipad or laptop to this new network. Can you give me simple steps? I am very much a novice with computers. Thanks for any advice or help you can provide. It seems like i'm missing a component somewhere.

You need to access your router wireless configuration page, insure that the wireless radio is on, that DHCP is enabled, and check the security mode and encryption type -- probably WPA or WPA2 with PSK-TKIP. You need to use the types that your devices support. Also, write down the security password as you need to input it into the devices to get access.
