I recently uploaded an mp3 file to my Motorola V500. I was able to play
it on the phone without any problem. I then set it as a ringtone using
"Apply As Ringtone". Then I went to change my normal ringtone to it but
whenever I try and bring up the list of ringtones it just takes me
straight back to the configuration menu. So then I went and deleted the
uploaded mp3 file using the phone's own menu. But I still can't change
my normal ringtone. I can, however, still bring up the full list of
tones if I go to the Alarm section and try and change the Alarm
ringtone. Can anyone help or tell me what to do so I can change my
ringtone again ?

OK, Have fixed the original problem by applying a different mp3 file a
ringtone. Then I tried reloading the original mp3 and reapplying it as
a ringtone but the same thing happens - i.e I can't change tones again.
So, looking at the mp3 file thats causing the problem it shows as being
15 seconds long, 89K and 48 kbps. It plays absolutely fine within the
Sounds section of the Media menu so can anyone suggest what the problem
might be?

My phone was a bit picky about encoded data, I re-encoded with no title etc and it accepted everything
