Problem installing windows 7 on windows 8 notebook

Last response: in Windows 8

so my younger sister bought herself an Asus X55A-SX038H notebook which came with windows 8, after about 2 weeks she decided that windows 8 wasn't for her and that she wanted windows 7 (which is what i told her would happen) unfortunately when i try to install windows 7 from disc it freezes at the 'starting windows' screen and doesn't go any further. Also the whole UEFI bios stuff is really new to me and i just have no clue how to install windows 7 via usb, does anyone know how to put windows 7 on this laptop, any help will be very much appreciated.

Also I am trying to do a fresh install as my sister didn't keep any files on it anyway, Thanks In Advance

Its NOT that simple.

Win8 with UEFI uses GPT bootrecords on bootdevice (HDD or SSD)

Win7 uses MBR bootrecord and needs legacy (non UEFI) mode för bootdevice.

Its a mess, and if You dont know EXACTLY how to do it on Your specific hardware, welcome to days of fun "rial and terror".

Also new HW quite often lacks the needed drivers for anything else than Win8. Sometimes they can be used with Win7 sometimes not...

Have You considered "fixing" Win8 so that it looks more like Win7 instead? http://www.iobit.com/iobitstartmenu8.php simulates the startbutton and startmenu, hiding the hated Metro from You.

Who said MS made it easy to replace Win8?

OK...first up - there is absolutely no need to install Windows 7 on any machine running Windows 8.

You are only kicking yourself in the foot...hard!

Instead of a knee-jerk reaction, look for other ways to achieve your goal of getting a Windows 7 feel to your windows 8 install.

I bet the issue your sis has is that she doesn't like the Metro...opps, sorry...'Modern' interface...and let's face it, unless it's a touch screen machine, who the hell does...I personally do not like the metro apps, the way the interface works, etc etc....however...I am running Windows 8 and loving it!

Hmmm...why would I slag it off and then say I love it.

Well..I use ClassicShell - I have it installed with the classic ie9 and classic explorer turned off..so I only use the ClassicShell Windows 7 style (you can use XP or Vista too if you wish) and have the machine set to boot straight to the 'Desktop' rather than the metro 'start' window.

So...now I have a Windows 7 feel on a Windows 8 machine....woots!

I hope this helps your sis, and you get over your initial dislike of Windows 8!

you need to format a usb disk with diskpart and add the bootcode to it.
1.open command prompt and administrator
2. type diskpart
3. type list disk

once you type list disk you will see a list of disk like disk 1 disk 2 etc..
4. select ur usb example type "disk 1"
5.type clean
6.type create partition primary
7.type format fs=ntfs quick
8. type active
9.type assign
10.type exit

now insert you windows disk to ur cdrom and find out the drive letter. now go back to command prompt and type "cd x:\boot "replace x with the letter or your cdrom. command prompt should say something like "x:\boot" now type "bootsect.exe /nt60 x:\ x being the drive letter of your cdrom. if done correctly you see "bootcode sucesfuly updated" now goto your cdrom and copy every file on the disk to the flash drive and then restart and boot from the flash drive. it will probably detect the usb device as a hard disk now..
